In Honor of My Mom’s Birthday

My mom’s birthday is tomorrow! In honor of her special day, I’m sharing the marriage/parenting advice that she gave me most often while I was growing up. I remember her exact words because when I say “often,” I really mean it. She wasn’t taking any chances that I’d forget. That’s how important this tip was to her.

You know what I’m going to say next! Come to Brain, Child Magazine to read all about it. I also have to mention how much I love the illustrations they do for these pieces. Here’s the version on Facebook with a scene from my essay: of “me” watching “Bryan” read an angry email I was writing while he slowly presses delete-delete-delete.

Please read “The Adult in the House” and you’ll understand the picture above. Note: clearly I was not the adult in that drawing. And below is one of my favorite pictures of my mom. Happy birthday, Mom!
