DEAR NINA: Conversations About Friendship is a podcast and newsletter about the ups and downs of adult friendship. I’m the host, Nina Badzin, a Minneapolis-based writer who accepted a position as a friendship advice columnist in 2014 and never stopped. DEAR NINA, the podcast, started in 2021, and has been referenced in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Time Magazine, The Guardian, The Chicago Tribune, The Minneapolis Star Tribune, and elsewhere!
I send emails through Substack with the latest anonymous friendship letters, podcast episodes, book reviews, and more.

Oh I used to read Rachel Bertsche’s blog! I didn’t realize her book had dropped, I’ll have to check it out.
Wow. I’m in awe of the “fifty movies” part of this challenge. I don’t think I’ve seen fifty movies total since I became a mom ten years ago. (Fifty books in a year is no easy feat, either!)
Good luck! Can’t wait to see how it goes. 🙂
I think I’d be willing to take on the book part of the challenge, but the movie part, no way. I’d never be able to get that done. Good luck!
I’m only watching the movies while I work out! (I work out at home.) Killing two birds with one stone as I study “the art of a good story.” That’s my main reason for doing all this.
I’m going to be checking this page all year for books to read 🙂 I’m glad you liked Eden Lake. The Knitting Circle and Night Swim sound good but maybe I should space out the sadness..
Nina, funny that you should mention books/movies. I posted on Facebook the book, the music and the Merchant/Ivory version of A Room With a View by EM Forster. So loved it that I recommended it as one of the “classics” for my book club.
The Big Chill is a movie must. Got a kick out of your movie list and picked up some good selections from your book list. The last book I read was Briefings for a Decent into Hell, by Doris Lessing. Great challenge on both books and movies. Another good one was Noah’s Compass by Ann Tyler. I do books, movies/tv and musc three times a week on M/W/F on Facebook. It’s fun. Loved the post 🙂
OH, I loved reading and watching Room With a View after I spent a college summer in Arezzo, a small area of Tuscany. Such good memories (of the summer and the movie and book).
But most important, how have I not seen these Facebook posts?!
I started it about four weeks ago. I post M/W/F on my Facebook page. Sometimes it shows on the wall. Check out the ones I posted already. Like your lists of books and movies, you might find something 🙂
