I’ve been thinking a lot lately about career dead ends and detours. And what an honor it was to get an invite from Anne R. Allen, author and blogger extraordinaire, to write a guest post on her highly respected and frequently visited writing blog on exactly that topic. Anne has been a blogging mentor of mine since the very beginning, helping me establish my blogging pace and even the name of my site. (There’s a reason I call it Nina Badzin’s Blog and nothing else.) She’s actively supported my transition from “aspiring novelist” to working (paid) writer of nonfiction—so much so that she asked me to tell her readers exactly how that happened and why.
I hope you’ll read my post for Anne and her co-blogger, Ruth Harris. It’s called, “Thinking Outside the Book: When a Writing Dead End Becomes a Detour to Success.”
But first learn a bit more about Anne’s work:
Anne R. Allen is the author of seven comic novels, Food of Love and The Gatsby Game, The Lady of the Lakewood Diner, and the Camilla Randall Mysteries: The Best Revenge, Ghostwriters in the Sky, Sherwood, Ltd, and No Place Like Home. She’s published by MWiDP and Kotu Beach Press. Anne has also written a survival guide for writers with Pay it Forward author Catherine Ryan Hyde: How to be a Writer in the E-Age: A Self-Help Guide.
Thanks again to Anne for having me!
