What I’m Loving This Week: One Recipe and One Book

Yes, the title of this post is too long. But what can I do? These are the two things I’m loving this week and they both happen to have long names.

#1. Smitten Kitchen’s Crisped Chickpeas With Herbs and Garlic Yogurt

So, I have no idea why out of all the random recipes I “like,” on social media, print, pin, or save in some capacity but mostly ignore in my endless pile of virtual good intentions, this recipe with yogurt is the one I decided to actually make. Please excuse my unattractive photo. I’m not a food blogger. Clearly!

I try a lot of internet recipes, but usually for much more basic stuff. I do generally love Smitten Kitchen though. For years I’ve depended on her brisket recipe (from the first book, not the site), and this particular chocolate chip cookie recipe from the website. ANYWAY, I decided to give the somewhat unusual chickpea and herb/garlic yogurt recipe a try and it was delicious. I’m not even much of a yogurt eater. Bryan liked it, too. I didn’t bother making enough for the kids. I did add the herbs later, but I forgot to snap a photo at that stage. I only happened to take one at all because I was so proud of myself for following through with the recipe.

#2. Audio version of The Lager Queen of Minnesota by J. Ryan Stradal

I absolutely adored the characters, setting, and story in The Lager Queen of Minnesota. And the narration is excellent! You’ll especially love it if you live in Minnesota.

The rest of my cooking this week is entirely focused on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. As for reading, my list is constantly updated here. I’m on #53 for the year. That’s definitely a record for me. (I normally hit #50 by Dec 31st.)

See you here soon!
