I have a new series on the friendship site because Lord knows I need something positive to focus on. I bet you do, too! POP CULTURE FRIENDSHIP!
First up is the fabulous duo of David and Stevie from Schitt’s Creek. I think their friendship is the perfect example of how to make new friends .
Trying to make a new friend and keep that friend? There are lessons to be learned from David and Stevie’s friendship:
THEY WERE FAST FRIENDS: David and Stevie met quickly when David was new to town, and they became fast friends. I get so many questions on the site about how to take a friendship (really, an acquaintanceship) to the next level. David and Stevie are a great example. They could have stayed at the stage of fun banter whenever David came into the lobby of the hotel, but Stevie invited David to a party and David bravely decided to go. They’ve been inseparable ever since.
THEY FIGHT AND MAKE UP: David and Stevie get in fights (they even dated for a minute), but they eventually make up and move on with their lives. They don’t seem to hold grudges or punish each other for making mistakes. Their friendship is more important than being “right.” I get a lot of questions here from people who are angry about things from years ago. That’s a sure way to end a friendship or find yourself in a miserable one.
THEY CHEER EACH OTHER ON: David and Stevie have a lot of sarcastic banter, but it’s clear that they want the best for each other. Each is the first to get excited about the other’s good news. If there’s any jealousy, they seem to realize fairly quickly the issue is with the person feeling jealous, not with the other person.
DO YOU WATCH SCHITT’S CREEK? DO YOU LOVE DAVID AND STEVIE’S FRIENDSHIP AS MUCH AS I DO?
