Beshert, in Yiddish, means “meant to be” or “destiny.” When the editor of Moment Magazine’s Beshert column put out a call for essays about relationships that are meant to be, but not necessary just of the romantic variety, I decided to pitch an essay about why I feel like writing about friendship feels so right, so meant to be.
