Friendship Roundup #5

Friendship Articles, Episodes and More

It’s the Friday Friendship roundup! I see so many friendship-related things throughout the week, either because I find them myself or people send them to me. I’m going to keep sharing them on my site twice a month.

Podcast News!

— Listen to episode 16: “The Popular Group” and episode 17: “Friendship and Sobriety”

I’m busy recording new episodes of Dear Nina: Conversations About Friendship. If you have an anonymous question you’d like me to cover, that form is here. It is TRULY anonymous. You don’t need to provide an email address.
You can also make the suggestion in the form of a comment rather than a question if that’s easier.
To leave your question or comment as a voicemail, go here.

Articles About Friendship I’ve Loved

I’ve shared this Huff Post piece by Gail Cornwall on all of my social media accounts and in my private Facebook group. The title, “A Cruel Thing I Said as a Kid Made Me a Pariah For Years. . . “ is exactly what the essay is about, but I’d argue that the girls who made her a pariah were just looking for an excuse. It’s a painful and beautiful read.

On NPR: “She asked best friends to pose for her. The result is a moving study of sisterhood.” Lucia Vazquez and Estefania Mitre

The Atlantic: “Why Making Friends in Midlife is So Hard” by Katharine Smyth

Vogue: “What Does it Mean to Actually Feel Close to Someone” by Chloe Schama

And as always, I share articles on my Facebook page and in my Dear Nina Facebook group.

  1. So nice to discover your podcast on Spotify. This topic is so relevant now especially as we reintegrate and adapt to this new social world while coping with the losses incurred, which of course includes friendships.
